Overview
Located next to Bristol's floating harbor, is M Shed, an impressive museum housed in a massive industrial warehouse which was previously a transit shed. Home to a treasure trove of memorabilia, the museum explores the city's history from pre historic times to the 21st century. The exhibits are divided into three sections, Bristol people, Bristol places and Bristol life and the museum also features an exhibition gallery, a café, a shop and also a terrace on the rooftop offering panoramic views of the harbor. It also has a number of working exhibits on the harbor side including steam boats, cranes and trains. This fascinating and highly interactive museum is definitely a must-visit when in Bristol, and those lucky enough to be there during summer will be able to enjoy a number of special weekend activities along the harbor.
Prayer Facilities
Muslim tourists will not find prayer facilities at M Shed as it does not house a prayer room within its premises. These visitors will therefore either have to ask the museum staff to point out a quiet area within the museum or use the facilities at one of the mosques in the city.
Halal Food
M Café, located in the museum's ground floor overlooking the harbor serves a range of delicious hot and cold food. However this café is not known to be Halal certified, therefore Muslim visitors might either have to choose vegetarian or seafood options or visit a Halal restaurant in the city of Bristol.
