Overview
A trip to Cardiff is incomplete without a visit to Cardiff Castle; one of Wales' leading heritage attractions. Located in the center of the city, Cardiff Castle stands on a truly remarkable site that was once occupied by a Roman fort and has a history that spans over 2000 years. Visitors will find that parts of this Roman fort have been preserved and partially restored. Those visiting the site can start off their tour at the Interpretation Centre where they will be able to learn more about the castle and its history. The centre also has a Children's Area with a puppet theatre, art and craft activities, and child-sized costumes. While here make sure to pick up a portable audio guide which is available in a children's version as well. Visitors can then explore the network of underground tunnels and wartime shelters, the Clock Tower, the Cardiff Castle Museum, the Norman Keep, the spectacular Banqueting Hall and castle apartments, and the numerous other attractions on the site.
Prayer Facilities
Finding prayer facilities within the premises of Cardiff Castle will not be possible. Muslims visiting the site may however be able to locate a clean and quiet place outdoors to offer their prayers. They can also make use of one of the several mosques and Islamic Centers in the city, such as the South Wales Islamic Centre, Madina Mosque or Al-Manar Islamic Centre.
Halal Food
Caffi'r Castell, located at the Cardiff Castle site offers a fantastic selection of delicious food and drinks. Visitors can relax on the terrace and enjoy the incredible views of the Castle and Norman Keep. Although the restaurant will not be Halal certified, there is sure to be a variety of vegetarian and seafood dishes suitable for Muslims.
