Overview

Rawal Lake, situated by the Rawal Dam, is one of the top attractions of Islamabad and is a great place for family outings. Located in the outskirts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, this artificial reservoir provides water needs to the two cities, and the green area around it is also a popular picnic spot. The lake is located within an isolated section of the Margalla Hills National Park which means that it is surrounded by lush greenery and therefore offers a variety of fun activities for young and old. This stunning area is not only great for picnicking. It is also ideal for hiking, fishing, boating, bird watching and is even great for those looking to just relax and unwind on their own and to watch the beautiful sunset. Visitors will also be treated to incredible panoramic views of the lake from the highest point in the garden.

Prayer Facilities

While Rawal Lake may not offer prayer facilities for Muslims visitors, they will be able to find plenty of open space suitable for offering their prayers while here. Muslim tourists will also not find locating mosques a problem. There are sure to be numerous masjids in the area surrounding the lake. One of the must-visit mosques in Islamabad is the Faisal Mosque. Tourists must make it a point to offer at least one prayer here.

Halal Food

Visitors to Rawal Lake will be able to find a food outlet serving a variety of snacks and drinks. Since Pakistan is a Muslim country, Muslim tourists can dine at any establishment without a worry. Visitors to the attraction could also take along some snacks and enjoy it by the side of the lake, as it is a great spot for picnics.
