Overview

When in Manila, a visit to Malacañang Palace is highly recommended for tourists interested in either the country's political history or colonial architecture. Built originally as the residence of a Spanish aristocrat, Malacañang Palace is now the seat of government and the official residence of the Head of State. This sprawling palace complex overlooking the Pasig River dates back to the mid 18th century and its colonial architecture alone makes it a must-visit landmark in Manila. Aside from admiring its magnificent architecture, visitors will also want to visit the museum housed within its premises. Featuring displays of memorabilia relating to the presidents of the Philippines since 1899, the museum is certainly worth a visit when in the city. Tourists will have to make advance reservations to see the palace complex or get a tour group to organize it for them, as admission is possible only with an appointment.

Prayer Facilities

Malacañang Palace does not offer prayer facilities for it visitors. Muslim tourists requiring prayer facilities will therefore have to visit one of the mosques in the city of Manila. While the most prominent mosque in the city is the Golden Mosque (it is also the largest), Muslim visiting the palace could ask the locals to direct them to the closest mosque if needed.

Halal Food

Muslim tourists will not find Halal restaurants within the palace complex as it is not known to house any such establishments. Muslim tourists will however find Halal certified food outlets in the city of Manila, which are known to serve a variety of cuisines. Muslim tourists visiting the mosque could make inquiries regarding the location of nearby Halal restaurants if required.
