Overview

A must-visit when in Baguio City is Session Road. This main avenue is a destination by itself and is frequented by locals and tourists alike. Visitors will come across a variety of stores ranging from clothing boutiques, restaurants and cafés, to bookstores, department stores and so much more. Session Road is where locals usually spend their free time, window shopping or just people watching. The lively road is also a great place for visitors to pick up some souvenirs and trinkets to take back home. Many local festivals and activities also take place here and there are numerous bazaars to explore. Muslim tourists must be aware that since Baguio City is predominantly Catholic, at 6 in the evening, daily, at Angelus time, the bustling Session Road comes to a full stop, with even vehicles stopping in their tracks. This is a Catholic devotion in honor of Annunciation and Incarnation that is remembered by a loud siren. Muslims visiting the city must therefore be respectful of this.

Prayer Facilities

While Muslims visiting Baguio City will not be able to find prayer facilities at major attractions, they will be able to find a few mosques in the city. A couple of these masjids include the Baguio Grand Mosque and the Darul Arqam Mosque. Muslim tourists to Session Road could therefore ask to be guided to one of these mosques when needed.

Halal Food

As mentioned above, there are quite a few restaurants and cafés on Session Road. However, while Baguio City has a sizeable Muslim population, most restaurants will not be Halal, but Muslim visitors will be able to find a couple of Halal restaurants in the city. They can ask locals to guide them to one of these establishments when needed.
