Overview
A great way to start exploring Cebu City is to take a walk down Colon Street; the oldest and the shortest street in the Philippines, situated in the center of downtown Cebu. Named after Christopher Columbus, this popular street is one of the most crowded parts of the city of Cebu. Witness to numerous important events that occurred during the Spanish settlement, today Colon Street may be a little run down, but it is home to a variety of shops, department stores, movie theaters, and other business establishments. Visitors will also come across numerous vendors selling an assortment of goods by the side of the road.
Prayer Facilities
Cebu City may not have a large Muslim population, but Muslim visitors will definitely be able to find a couple of mosques in the city. Al-Khairiah Mosque and the Green Mosque are two masjids at which Muslim tourists could offer their prayers at. While exploring Colon Street, visitors could ask to be guided to the nearest mosque when necessary.
Halal Food
While those visiting Colon Street are sure to come across numerous restaurants and food carts, Muslim tourists may not be able to find any establishments serving Halal food. However, due to the sizeable population of Muslims living in Cebu City, there more definitely are a few Halal restaurants. Tourists must make it a point to dine on some popular local dishes while here.
