Overview
Fukuoka Zoo, set amongst the hillside of Fukuoka, is home to 130 different species of animals and is a great place for a day out with the family. Since the zoo is part of Minami Park and is also connected to the botanical gardens, visitors will find the trip here a wonderful way to connect with nature. Among the 130 species found in the zoo, visitors will find a number of rare and endangered species like Tapir, Red Panda, Gorilla, Oryx, and Raggiana bird-of-paradise, along with more common animals like rabbits and goats, which can be found in the petting corner. Aside from the petting corner, children will find the small children's play area with the Ferris wheel, fun and entertaining, as it offers panoramic views of the city. Since the zoo houses a number of food stalls and several seating areas, visitors can take a break and get a snack as well.
Prayer Facilities
Fukuoka Zoo is not known to provide prayer facilities for Muslim visitors, but tourists requiring prayer facilities will be able to use the facilities offered at the Fukuoka Masjid when needed. If unable to visit this mosque they should be able to find a secluded area within the zoo to offer their prayers, or they will have to return to their hotel rooms at prayer times.
Halal Food
Although Fukuoka Zoo has several food stalls within its premises, these outlets may not be Halal. Muslim visitors could choose to order a suitable seafood or vegetarian snack at one of these outlets or they could visit one of the Muslim owned Halal restaurants in the city of Fukuoka. Navi-San, Marhaba, Zaeka, Hyder, Mr Kebab and Kebabooz are known to be Muslim owned, however Muslim tourists dining at these establishments should confirm its Halal status before ordering.
