When in Switzerland, tourists must make it a point to pay the beautiful and serene Lake Lucerne a visit. Named after the city of Lucerne, Lake Lucerne, in central Switzerland is surrounded by popular excursion mountains. Offering picturesque views, including that of Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus, two of the best known limestone mountains in the region, Lake Lucerne is possibly the lake with the best scenic variety in the country. Highlights of being in this region include; taking a boat cruise on the lake aboard either the paddle wheel steamer or the salon motor vessel. Since most of the cruises serve their guests a meal aboard, visitors will also able to enjoy some delicious food along with the great views. In addition to boat cruises, tourist can also take boat trips across this scenic lake to important excursion destinations and mountain cableways of the region. While a boat trip on the lake is without a doubt a great experience, tourists are sure to also appreciate and enjoy Lake Lucerne's stunning surroundings from the land. Walks along themed trails, cycling or skating through the many paths are a few fun activities that can be enjoyed by the entire family.
