Overview

Art lovers are sure to appreciate the impressive collection of Irish and international art found at the renowned Butler Gallery. Located in the heart of the medieval city of Kilkenny, within Kilkenny Castle's former kitchen, this popular exhibition space features collection from the 18th century to present day and plays an important role in the cultural life of Kilkenny. The gallery has permanent exhibitions as well as touring ones. Visitors to Butler Gallery will come across works of art by world famous artists such as Tony O' Malley, Stephen Lawlor, Sean Scully, Jeanne Silverthorne, Jack B. Yeats, and William Scott. The gallery also hosts educational programs for the public.

Prayer Facilities

The Butler Gallery does not have prayer facilities for Muslim visitors. Muslims visiting the gallery will however be able to find a secluded area in the castle's garden to offer their prayers. Muslims could also make use of the facilities offered at Kilkenny's only known mosque - the Kilkenny Islamic Centre.

Halal Food

The Butler Gallery is not known to house a café. Visitors are however sure to find plenty of dining establishments in the city of Kilkenny. Muslim visitors could dine on suitable vegetarian and seafood dishes at local non-Halal restaurants, or they could visit one of the few Halal restaurants in the city.
