Overview
Located about 5 kilometres from Donegal Town is the must-visit Ardnamona Woods. This picturesque nature reserve is home to a variety of plants and trees, streams, and animals, as well as different habitats. Visitors will come across plants like ash, oak, birch, alder, wood sorrel, willow, downy and bluebells, as well as rare plants like Whorled Caraway and Six-stamened Waterworth, and animals such as fox, red squirrel and badger. Ardnamona Woods is the ideal place for those looking to spend a day out bonding with family and nature. While here, visitors must make it a point to explore the walkway that runs through the woodland.
Prayer Facilities
While Muslims visiting Ardnamona Woods will not be able to find prayer facilities, they will be able to locate a clean and quiet area within the woodland to offer their prayers. There are also no known mosques in Donegal Town, so if unable to locate a secluded place outdoors, Muslim tourists will have to return to their accommodation at prayer times.
Halal Food
Visitors to Ardnamona Woods will not find any food outlets. They will however be able to visit one of the several restaurants and cafés in Donegal Town. Muslim visitors can either dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes at a non-Halal restaurant, or they can visit one of the few Halal restaurants in town.
