Overview

The 225 mile County Donegal Railway and the Londonderry & Lough Swilly Railway are gauge railways of County Donegal that once played an important role in transporting the County's residents. A great way for visitors to learn about this; the largest narrow gauge railway system in north-west Europe, is to visit the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre at the Old Station House. Visitors to the Heritage Centre get to see what it was like to travel on County Donegal's narrow gauge railways. A visit includes an informative historical presentation of constructed models of different scales; some of which are working models, photographs and videos.

Prayer Facilities

The Donegal Railway Heritage Centre does not offer prayer facilities for Muslim visitors. Muslims will also not be able to find any mosques or Islamic Centers in Donegal Town. They will therefore have to locate a secluded place outdoors to offer their prayers, or they will have to return to their accommodation at prayer times.

Halal Food

It is unclear if the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre has a café. Even if it does, Muslim visitors will have to dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian items, as non-Halal ingredients are sure to be used. Because Donegal has a small Muslim community, Muslim tourists will also be able to find a few Halal restaurants in town.
