Overview

With County Donegal having such a varied and fascinating history, a great place for visitors to learn about this is at the Donegal County Museum. Located in what was previously the Warden's house of the Letterkenny Workhouse, this museum features a wonderful collection of artifacts which offer visitors of all ages a glimpse into the history and heritage of the County. The collection of over 8,000 artifacts found here represents a wide range of periods and topics. The museum not only has permanent exhibits ranging from the Stone Age to the Twentieth century, there are also temporary exhibitions held here year round.

Prayer Facilities

The Donegal County Museum does not have prayer facilities for Muslim visitors. Muslims visiting the attraction will therefore either have to find a secluded area outdoors to offer their prayers, or they can visit the one known mosque in Letterkenny. Muslim tourists can ask staff at the museum to guide them to this mosque when needed.

Halal Food

The Donegal County Museum is not known to house a café. Visitors to the museum will however be able to find plenty of restaurants and cafés in the city of Letterkenny. Muslim tourists will have to dine on seafood and vegetarian dishes at a non-Halal restaurant, or they could visit one of the few Halal restaurants in Letterkenny.
