Overview
A trip to Letterkenny is certainly incomplete without a visit to the beautiful Glenveagh National Park. Known to be one of six national parks in Ireland, the Glenveagh National Park is spread across 16,000 hectares and consists of woods, mountains, lakes and glens. Because of the varied habitats found at the national park, visitors will come across a variety of fascinating plants and animals. Also found here is a Scottish style castle that is encompassed by what is said to be one of the country's finest gardens. Visitors must be aware that the castle can be accessed by guided tour only. Because the National Park is so large, it is best for visitors to get information regarding the park, the best walking trails found here, and must-see sites, at the Visitors Center.
Prayer Facilities
While Muslims visiting Glenveagh National Park will not be able to find prayer facilities, they are sure to find a secluded place outdoors to offer their prayers. If unable to do so, Muslims could visit the one known mosque in the city of Letterkenny, or they will have to return to their hotel rooms at prayer times.
Halal Food
Visitors to Glenveagh National Park will find the Glenveagh Castle Tearooms and the Glenveagh Restaurant within the park. While both, the tearoom and the restaurant are sure to serve a fantastic selection of delicious snacks and refreshments, Muslim visitors will have to stick to vegetarian and seafood items, as non-Halal ingredients are widely used. Muslim tourists could also visit one of the few Halal restaurants in Letterkenny.
