Cu Chi Tunnels

Overview

One of the top attractions in Ho Chi Minh City is the Cu Chi Tunnels. This network of underground passageways run for over 200 kilometers and stretch from close to the Cambodian border all the way to the city limits of the Southern Vietnamese capital. Originally constructed as shelter against French air attacks in the 1940s, the Cu Chi Tunnels then became an underground city with living quarters, hospitals, and even booby traps, thus allowing locals to continue to live underground despite all the bombings. Visitors can now crawl through these tunnels to experience how the Viet Cong guerillas would have felt while hiding out here during the war. The tour starts off before visitors even enter the tunnels, with a film showing fascinating footage about the tunnels. They are then taken on a guided tour which will allow them to explore the Cu Chi Tunnels firsthand. Tour guides will point out areas used as a field hospital and other preserved areas, as well as some booby traps. Visitors to the attraction will also get the opportunity to fire an AK - 47 for $1 US per bullet.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims looking for prayer facilities while at the Cu Chi Caves will not be able to find any. They will therefore have to use the facilities offered at one of the several mosques in Ho Chi Minh City, such as the Central Mosque, Cholon Mosque, Jamiul Islamiyah Mosque, Jamul An Ar Mosque, Al Rahman Mosque or Jamiyah Islamic Mosque.

Halal Food

Finding Halal food in Ho Chi Minh City will not be a problem. Muslim tourists will be able to locate plenty of Halal dining establishments throughout the city, especially outside the mosques. Some of the Halal restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City include Halal Saigon, Kedai Shamsudin Restaurant and Ali Baba Restaurant.
