Overview

Hoi An was a commercial seaport for over 300 years due to the ancient silk weaving traditions of Quang Nam province. This tradition was preserved in Hoi An through centuries, and even today it is one of the top places to find good quality silk in Vietnam. Opened in 2012, the Hoi An Silk Village offers visitors an in-depth look at the history of silk production in Vietnam, and the silk making process starting from silkworms to the final products. The tour starts at a traditional house in the village where visitors get to see a collection of beautiful silk clothing worn by Vietnamese women. It then continues to a beautiful garden filled with mulberry trees, and then to the breeding house of the silkworms. Once here, visitors get to see silkworms weave their cocoons and will even get the chance to feed the silkworms. They then get to experience silk being weaved and transformed into beautiful textiles. The tour ends in a showroom filled with luxurious silk products, and visitors will learn the difference between pure silk and synthetic silk. Also found at the Hoi An Silk Village is a bar and restaurant.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim tourists will not be able to find prayer facilities at the Hoi An Silk Village. They will also not be able to locate any in the city of Hoi An. Muslims visiting the attraction will therefore either have to offer their prayers in their hotel rooms, or if possible to find a secluded place in the attraction, they can pray outdoors.

Halal Food

As mentioned above, the Hoi An Silk Village does have a restaurant that is known to serve a variety of local Quang Nam dishes as well as international cuisine. While this restaurant will not be Halal certified, Muslim visitors should be able to find suitable vegetarian and seafood dishes on the menu.
