Overview

A trip to Da Lat is certainly not complete without a visit to the Hang Nga Guest House and Art Gallery or 'Crazy House'. Known for its unique fairytale like structure, the Crazy House is a mix of wood and wire that resembles a tree. This piece of artwork was designed by Vietnamese architect and impressionist Dang Viet Nga. The Crazy House is world renowned and has even been listed as one of the ten most creative buildings in the world. Both, its interior and exterior comprises of complex, non-rectilinear shapes and natural forms. There are ten guest rooms in the house, each with a unique theme, such as the tiger room, the ant room, the kangaroo room, the eagle room, and so on. Visitors can choose to either stay in the guest house, or they can pay a small fee to explore its cave-shape hallways, tunnels, themed rooms and the concrete ladders.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims visiting the Crazy House will not be able to find prayer facilities. They may however be able to get permission to use one of the rooms available to offer their prayers. If unable to do so, Muslim visitors will have to return to their hotel rooms at prayer times, since the city of Da Lat does not have any mosques.

Halal Food

Since the Crazy House also functions as a guesthouse, visitors may be able to order some food while here. If there is food to order however, it is sure to not be Halal. Muslim visitors will therefore have to dine on suitable vegetarian and seafood dishes. There are also no Halal restaurants in Da Lat, but there are plenty of vegetarian and seafood restaurants.
