Overview

Thanh Toan is a small tile roofed Japanese bridge located approximately 7 kilometers east of Hue. Constructed initially to facilitate better communication and transport between the two villages separated by the canal about 200 years ago, with funds provided by the wife of a high ranking mandarin in the court of emperor Le Hein Tong, this charming little bridge has quite an interesting story. Hearing of the charitable act performed by this lady the emperor freed the village from taxes and ordered an alter on the bridge to be built in memory of her in 1925. Although there isn't much to do or see here, aside from walking over the pretty bridge, the ride to the Japanese Bridge by bike or motor bike will prove to be a pleasant experience.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim visitors will not find prayer facilities in the city of Hue as there are no known mosques or Islamic centers in the city. Tourists visiting the Japanese Bridge however, if lucky may be able to locate a secluded area near the bridge to offer their prayers, or else they will have to return to their hotel rooms at prayer times.

Halal Food

Finding Halal food in Hue will not be possible as there are no known Halal food outlets in the city. Since tourists visiting the Japanese Bridge will not find restaurants at the bridge, they will have to dine at one of the city's many restaurants. They will however have to choose suitable vegetarian or seafood dishes at these outlets.
