Overview

Tourists will be able to experience Greece's maritime history come to life at the Hellenic Maritime Museum. Located near Zea Harbour, this popular attraction is said to be the largest maritime museum in Greece, and houses a variety of exhibits on the maritime history of Greece which are spread across 10 rooms. Visitors will come across displays portraying famous sea-battles, models of ancient and modern ships, flags and maps, paintings, portraits of naval personalities, guns, part of a submarine, exhibits dedicated to World War II, and much more. There is also a large Maritime Library and a Maritime Picture Gallery found here.

Prayer Facilities

Finding prayer facilities at the Hellenic Maritime Museum will not be possible. Muslim visitors will however be able to locate a mosque in the city, namely Masjid al-Andalus. Muslims visiting the museum can therefore ask staff to guide them to this mosque when needed, or they will have to return to their accommodation at prayer times.

Halal Food

The Hellenic Maritime Museum is not known to house a café. Those visiting the museum will however be able to locate a variety of great restaurants in the surrounding area. Since the city is known for its seafood, Muslim tourists will not find it difficult at all to find a seafood restaurant in Piraeus.
