A trip to Piraeus is definitely incomplete without a visit to the beautiful neighborhood of Kastella. Built on a hill, also known as Profitis Elias, and said to be the loveliest neighborhood in Piraeus, Kastella offers visitors some of the most extraordinary views, thus making it a popular destination amongst locals and tourists. Squeezed together on the hill are picturesque, traditional Greek houses, which are sure to delight visitors. Visitors must make it a point to wander the narrow streets and explore the neighborhood. From the top of the hill, tourists will be able to see Zea and Mikrolimano; the central harbor, as well as the Saronic Gulf and even the city of Athens. Kastella is truly serene, and is the ideal place to visit to get away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims visiting the neighborhood of Kastella will not be able to find a mosque in the area. There is however a mosque in the city. Masjid al-Andalus is the main mosque in Piraeus and is frequented by locals and tourists. Muslim tourists can therefore ask the locals to direct them to this mosque when needed.

Halal Food

The neighborhood of Kastella is known to be home to a variety of fantastic restaurants and ices cream shops. These food outlets will however sell non-Halal items, so Muslim tourists will have to be careful with what they order. Since Piraeus is renowned for its fresh seafood, Muslims could dine on these dishes after making sure they do not contain any non-Halal items.
