Archaeological Museum of Rhodes

Overview

The Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is one of the city's top attractions. Located in the massive Hospital of the Knights, built as a hospital by the Knights of St. John, the Archaeological Museum is one of the most important monuments left by the Knights. Home to a variety of archaeological finding from all over Rhodes, as well as from the neighboring islands, this museum offers visitors a look into the area's past. Visitors will come across a number of rooms; which were once a patient's ward, the hospital's kitchen and so on, displaying exhibits from the region of ancient Lalysia, a rich collection of ancient vases, sculptures from Rodos and the surrounding islands, tombstones of Knights and much more. Those visiting the museum must also make it a point to explore the grand building, its courtyards, passages, and staircase.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims visiting the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes will not be able to find prayer facilities within the attraction. There are however a number of mosques located across the Medieval Town. Some of these mosques are extremely old and thus do not function. One mosque known to be open for prayers is the Mosque of Suleiman. Muslim visitors can therefore ask museum staff to guide them to this mosque, or another functioning mosque nearby when needed.

Halal Food

The Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is not known to house a food outlet. Visitors will however be able to find many cafés and restaurants in the area surrounding the museum. Muslim tourists may also be able to find a couple of Halal restaurants, due to the city's sizeable Muslim population. They can make inquiries regarding this while at the local mosque.
