Overview

One of the most interesting and beautiful parts of the Medieval Town of Rhodes is the Street of Knights. This important street is lined with wonderfully renovated and preserved buildings, or medieval inns, which the Knights of St. John frequented. These inns represented the seven countries that the Knights came from; Auvergne, Provence, England, France, Germany, Aragon and Italy. Only four of these inns remain today. The 200 metre long cobblestoned street has hardly been changed, and thus offers visitors a look at how the whole area may have been in the past. Visitors must make it a point to explore the famous street and its numerous attractions, such as the Archaeological Museum, found at the end of the street, and the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes.

Prayer Facilities

Although the Old Town of Rhodes is known to house a number of mosques, only one or two of them still function. The Mosque of Suleiman is one such mosque. Muslim tourists can therefore ask to be guided to this mosque, or to another functioning mosque near the Street of Knights.

Halal Food

The Medieval Town has a good selection of cafés and restaurants. Muslim tourists will however find it difficult to locate Halal dining establishments here, even though there is sure to be at least one. They can therefore make inquiries regarding this at the mosque, or they can dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes at local non-Halal restaurants.
