Overview
The unique Museum of Asian Art is housed in the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George, in the historical centre of Corfu. This one of a kind museum houses exquisite collections of art and antiquities from countries in Asia, dating from the Neolithic Age to the 19th century. Visitors to the museum will come across a fascinating and extensive collection of Chinese Art, Japanese Art, South East Asian Art and Central Asian Art. Exhibits include pottery, sculptures, porcelain, relics, clothing, coins, portraits, furniture, paintings, weapons and masks and much more. The building that the museum is housed in is also quite significant, as it is known to be a building of the English rule period.
Prayer Facilities
Muslims visiting the Museum of Asian art of Corfu will not be able to find any prayer facilities at the attraction, nor will they be able to locate any mosques or Islamic Centres in the city of Corfu. They will therefore have to find a secluded place outdoors to offer their prayers, or if unable to, they will have to return to their hotel rooms at prayer times.
Halal Food
The Museum of Asian art of Corfu does not house a café. Visitors will however be able to find a number of fantastic cafés and restaurants in the surrounding area. While these restaurants will not be Halal certified, Muslim tourists are sure to find some that serve suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes.
