Overview
Located at the highest point of Parikia, on the hill of Agios Konstantinos, is one of the most important monuments on the island of Paros, Frankish Castle. Built in the 13th century, under Venetian rule, by the Duke of Naxos Marco Sanudo, this castle was built using marble from ancient Greek temples. Frankish Castle is known for its intricate stonework and stunning architecture. However today, not much of this castle exists. Visitors will see the outer walls of the fortress, and the remnants of ancient residences scattered around, as well as the Christian Orthodox Church of Agios Constantinos inside the castle. Since the castle is located at Parikia's highest point, those visiting the attraction will also be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
Prayer Facilities
As with any of Parikia's attractions, Frankish Castle does not offer prayer facilities for Muslim visitors. Muslims will also not be able to locate any mosques in the town of Parikia. They will therefore have to return to their hotel rooms at prayer times, or will have to locate a secluded place outdoors to offer their prayers; which might be possible when visiting the castle.
Halal Food
Visitors to Frankish Castle will not find any food outlets at the attraction. They will however be able to locate plenty of restaurants and cafés in the town of Parikia. While there are no Halal dining establishments in town, Muslim tourists are sure to find many vegetarian and seafood restaurants.
