Overview

When in Salzburg with family, the Salzburg Toy Museum or Spielzeugmuseum is a must-visit. Housed in a former Baroque hospital that is by itself impressive, the Toy Museum features a collection of toys from Baroque times until the present. It is known to be Austria's largest collection of historical European toys. Visitors to the museum will come across a large number of antique doll houses and dolls along with doll accessories and clothing, historic model trains, puzzles, soft toys, paper theaters, optical toys and much more. The toys found here are not just for display purposes; the museum also has ones that children can play with, therefore offering visitors a fun, hands-on experience. Also found at the museum is a miniature toy exhibit, a children's library, a labyrinth and a cinema. The museum also hosts entertaining puppet shows on certain days of the week.

Prayer Facilities

The Salzburg Toy Museum will not have prayer facilities for Muslim visitors. The city of Salzburg however has quite a few mosques. The Salzburg Moschee, the Islamic Cultural Association in Salzburg, Krems Moschee and Türkischer Kulturverein Selimiye are some of the prominent masjids in Salzburg. Muslims visiting the Toy Museum can therefore ask to be guided to the nearest mosque when needed.

Halal Food

The Salzburg Toy Museum is not known to house a café. Visitors looking to get a bite to eat will be able to find plenty of restaurants and cafés in the city of Salzburg. Muslim tourists will also not find it much of a problem to locate Halal restaurants, as the city has a sizeable Muslim population. While some of these outlets will be completely Halal, others are only partially Halal. Muslim visitors will be able to get more information regarding the best Halal restaurants in the city while at the local mosque.
