Tyrolean Folk Art Museum

Overview

A must-visit when in Innsbruck is the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum; one of the top museums in the city and one of the most prominent heritage museums in Europe. Located adjoining the Hofkirche, this museum is home to an extensive collection of cultural artifacts and local art. Exhibits here include old handicrafts, pottery, tools, textiles, metalwork, traditional furniture, traditional costumes and more, all from the Tyrol region. The highlights of the museum however include wood-paneled rooms from farms and houses that were restored beautifully. These rooms represent the Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque periods and therefore offer visitors a glimpse of the past. The Tyrolean Folk Art Museum also offers interesting and entertaining tours for families, as well as fun workshop for kids.

Prayer Facilities

While the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum does not offer prayer facilities for Muslims, visitors could make use of the facilities offered at one of the several mosques in Innsbruck. Some of the most prominent mosques and Islamic Centres in the city include Islamic Center Tyrol, Eltakwa Mosque and the Turkish Islamic Association in Tyrol.

Halal Food

The Tyrolean Folk Art Museum is not known to house a café. Visitors will however be able to find plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area. There are also quite a few Halal restaurants in the city of Innsbruck. Muslim tourists will be able to obtain more information regarding this while at a local mosque.
