Torre Tavira - Camera Obscura

Overview

Built in an old water tower; Torre Tavira, is the 'Camera Obscura', an optical device which offers an unusual way for visitors to see the city of Tavira. The Camera Obscura projects onto a big screen in the tower, a 360 degree real time image of Tavira and its numerous attractions. On reaching the tower's second-last floor, visitors will be met by a tour guide who will point out Tavira's points of interest, monuments, attractions and landmarks. The guide will also give visitors a run-down of the history and culture of Tavira, thus making the tower a must-visit for all tourists. The Torre Tavira also has numerous other floors; the Recepetion area, home to a souvenir shops, tourist information booth and ticket booth, two exhibition halls, and the terrace, where the optical instrument is located.

Prayer Facilities

Finding prayer facilities at Torre Tavira will not be possible. Muslims visiting the attraction will therefore have to find a secluded area to offer their prayers, or if unable to, they will have to return to their hotel rooms at prayer times, since there are no known mosques or Islamic Centers in the city of Tavira.

Halal Food

It is unclear if Torre Tavira has a food outlet, but visitors will be able to find plenty of restaurants and cafés in the city of Tavira. There are however no known Halal dining establishments, so Muslim tourists will have to dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes at a local non-Halal restaurant.
