Overview

Located in Lough Leane; one of the famous three Lakes of Killarney, is the picturesque island of Innisfallen. Steeped in history and home to settlements which date back to the 7th century, Innisfallen is a definite must-visit when in Killarney. It was once an important educational centre and is believed to be where Brian Boru studied and where the renowned Annals of Innisfallen were compiled. Today, visitors to the island will come across the remains of 12th century Romanesque church as well as an Augustinian Priory. The island is located about a kilometre and a half from the shores of Ross Castle; from where boat trips to Innisfallen operate.

Prayer Facilities

While finding prayer facilities on Innisfallen Island will not be possible, Muslim tourists will be able to offer their prayers outdoors since there will be plenty of secluded areas. They could also make use of the facilities offered at Killarney's only mosque - the Killarney Islamic Cultural Centre & Mosque.

Halal Food

Visitors to the island will not be able to find any food outlets, but there are numerous restaurants in the town of Killarney. Muslim tourists can dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes at local restaurants, since non-Halal ingredients are sure to be widely used or they could visit the only Halal restaurant in Killarney.
