Overview

Lying at the foot of the highest mountain range in Ireland; the MacGillycuddy's Reeks, is the first National Park in Ireland, and one of the most beautiful; Killarney National Park. Covering an area of 25,000 acres and featuring mountain peaks, extensive natural woodland, waterfalls including Torc Waterfall, and the famous Lakes of Killarney, this beautiful, world-renowned park is not just popular amongst tourists, it is also frequented by locals. The park also houses a variety of wildlife, including species that are rare, such as the native red deer. The best ways to explore Killarney National Park are by walking and cycling. There are numerous marked routes and nature trails; including one for the visually impaired, and bicycle rentals are available in several spots. Also found here are many of Killarney's top attractions such as Ross Castle, Muckross Abbey, Innisfallen Island and Muckross House and Gardens and Traditional Farms.

Prayer Facilities

Although Muslims visiting Killarney National Park will not be able to find prayer facilities within the attraction, they will be able to locate plenty of secluded areas outdoors to offer their prayers. Muslim tourists could also make use of the facilities offered at the only known mosque in Killarney, the Killarney Islamic Cultural Centre & Mosque.

Halal Food

Those visiting Killarney National Park could take along a picnic, or they could dine at one of the several restaurants in the town of Killarney. While most of these dining establishments will serve non-Halal dishes, Muslim tourists are sure to find suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes on the menu at these restaurants. There is however one restaurant in Killarney that is said to be Halal; Mixor Kebab.
