Overview

A trip to Killarney is incomplete without a drive down the Gap of Dunloe, which is a narrow mountain pass that runs between the MacGuillcuddy Reeks Mountains and the Purple Mountains, and stretches for 6 miles. The pass was carved by glacial ice and is popular amongst locals and tourists alike for its incredibly scenic, unspoiled surroundings. Those who wish to experience its magnificence first hand have a couple of options; they can take a coach to Kate Kearney's Cottage from where they can walk, take a jaunting car, or go on horseback. The beautiful glacial valley is surrounded by rugged mountains, glistening lakes and woodland, and visitors are offered breathtaking views like no other.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim tourists will not find any prayer rooms along the Gap of Dunloe. They will however be able to offer their prayers outdoors since there will be plenty of secluded areas. Muslim visitors could also make use of the facilities offered at Killarney's only mosque - the Killarney Islamic Cultural Centre & Mosque.

Halal Food

Those exploring the Gap of Dunloe will find refreshments and snacks at Kate Kearney's Cottage. Muslim tourists can dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes since non-Halal ingredients are sure to be widely used. Muslim visitors could also have a picnic while touring the pass, or they can visit the only Halal restaurant in the town of Killerny.
