Overview

The Tarsier Sanctuary was established in 1996 and is dedicated to scientific research and conservation concerning the tarsier, a rare and unique small primate. Tourists are allowed to visit only a certain part of the sanctuary since animal's care and safety is the topmost priority. However, eco-tourism has been encouraged to create environmental awareness. Visitors are very welcome to take pictures in a large net enclosed area or observe an animal in its very own natural habitat, but it is prohibited to stroke or tease the animals to avoid stressing them out. At the reception, you will see souvenirs, exhibits and an audio visual room as well. Tourists can also take part in the Tarsier Trail with a trained tour guide where trekking will take place in small groups to enjoy the natural flora and fauna of the region. The natural beauty of this area make it worthwhile trip.

Prayer Facilities

The Mosques near the area include Masjid Darussalam and The Islamic Centre in Tagbilaran city which are more than a 20 minute driving distance. While there are no prayer facilities at the sites there are outdoor areas that can be used for prayer.

Halal Food

Muslim travelers to the sanctuary may not be able to find Halal food at the location. So it is recommended to bring some snacks along. Halal restaurants near and within Tagbilaran city can be found by asking some of the locals for help.
