Overview
As a municipal of Palawan, Taytay is divided into 31 barangay. The name of the city means 'bridge' and is derived from the native word Talaytayan. When the Philippines were under Spanish colonization, Taytay was officially founded in 1623 and this town was actually the first capital of Palawan. The historical fort known as Fort Santa Isabell or Fuerza de Santa Isabel was named in honour of Queen Isabel II of Spain. It was built in 1667 but you can still see the preserved cannons today and it is a major tourist attraction as well. Another activity not to be missed is The Irrawady Dolphin Watching tour in Malapaya Sound. The Irrawady Dolphin is an endangered species and is endemic to Taytay. The Hidden Lagoon is another unique place to visit with clear waters. Tecas Reef Marine Park and Fish Sanctuary and Isla Blanca and Quimbaludan Marine Reserve are ideal for swimming or snorkeling with beautiful beaches where marine life can be observed.
Prayer Facilities
Muslims travelers to Taytay will not find prayer facilities at the location, however, outdoor and indoor spaces can be used. The Al- Farooq Institute and Masjid Abad Santos are the Mosques near Puerto Princesa.
Halal Food
Finding Halal restaurants near attractions won't be easy, but you can ask the staff if they prepare Halal food. You can ask some locals to direct you to places that serve Halal food at their restaurants or else you can order vegetarian meals. However, the seafood is usually fresh and of quality in these areas.
