Alanya has a variety of attractions that people can visit through their stay in the city. There are several ancient Roman and Byzantine structures dotted all across the city. The main attraction however is the 14th century citadel. The citadel also houses the Alaadin Mosque. There are several structures around the citadel that are worth seeing. The Red Tower is a hexagonal tower in the citadel and is the closest to the sea. From the citadel visitors can access the numerous grottos and caves.

The Damlatus is among the most visited attractions in Alanya. The cave is formed by unusual shapes of stalactites and stalagmites that are a must see. There are quite a number of beaches around Alanya that attract visitors. The Kleoptra Beach is a wonderful destination to sit back and relax and also take a bath. The waters of the Mediterranean are clear and warm. Visitors can take boat trips to explore the caves around Alanya. The area also offers excellent opportunities of scuba diving. The Alanya Museum is a good place to visit for those who wish to learn more about the area.

Alanya is a shopper’s city; there are a wide range of shops all around the city selling different items. Whether it is jewellery, rugs, textiles, leather goods, handbags or metal work there are several options of souvenirs that visitors can carry back. Visitors are free to bargain with the shopkeepers to get a good price on their purchase.

Nearby Airports

The nearest airport to Alanya is the Antalya Airport, which is at about 2 hours’ drive from the city. Another airport just half an hour from Alanya is the Gazipasa Airport. The Gazipasa Airport has been opened recently for international flights and serves limited destinations in Europe. Buses are available from the Antalya Airport and also from the Gazipasa Airport. Taxis can also be hired but can be quite expensive.

There are several halal restaurants in Alanya where visitors can taste the flavours of the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The Bera Hotel in Alanya serves halal food. Throughout the city visitors can find numerous halal diners but it is best to enquire before eating as some of the places also serve alcohol.

Alanya has numerous mosques that are historic and features beautiful architecture. The most noticeable mosques in Alanya are the KuyularCamii, AlaadinCamii and the YeniCamii. Other mosques in the city include the Ali Imam Mosque, Elaksa Mosque, Develiler Mosque, etc.
