The frescos at some of the locations are still visible clearly. The Uchisar castle is within close reach of the Goreme open air museum and is another destination worth visiting. There are several paths along the valley that are suitable for trekking. There are trails leading through pigeon, rose, red and love valleys.
In the town center there is a Turkish bath open for public. Visitors can relax at the Turkish bath after a long day of sightseeing. The Sunset Point in Goreme offers amazing views. There are several places around Goreme where visitors can find pottery and Turkish carpets. It is best to inspect the carpets before buying. Goreme offers some good accommodation facilities and is a serene town with no happening nightlife.
The closest airports to Goreme are the ones at Kayseri andNevsehir. The KayseriAiprort is connected by flights to and from Istanbul. From the airport taxis are available to Kayseri bus station and cost around TL 12. From Kayseri bus station there are a few buses available to Goreme. Alternatively visitors can travel from Kayseri to Avanos and then further to Goreme. Direct buses from Kayseri to Goreme cost TL 10.
