The town is situated on land that has been reclaimed from the sea, and is surrounded by majestic mountains, the highest of which reaches a staggering 2,890 feet above sea level. With its stunning natural beauty, Kuah is the perfect destination for those seeking a tranquil escape.

For Muslim visitors Kuah offers a good range of halal facilities. 

There are many places for sightseeing where you may see various wildlife species and exotic bird species, notably on the slopes of the Gunung Raya Mountain. Additionally, the friendly locals in what was once a low-key fishing village are welcoming and make you feel right at home.

Kuah is a modest town with serene surroundings and a laidback atmosphere. For those who wish to relax and enjoy some good shopping, Kuah is the best place in Langkawi.

The town also provides good halal facilities including the largest masjid on the island the Al-Hana Mosque. There are also several halal restaurants dotted along the waterfront promenade.

The Eagle Square on the water front is the main landmark of Kuah. The CHOGM Park is one of the best parks in the area. Visitors can sit at one of the cafes along the waterfront and see mountains at a distance and the coming and goings of ferries. Just next to the Kuah Jetty is the Lagenda Langkawi Dalam Taman a theme park spanning over 50 hectares. The park is beautifully landscaped and is one of the best points to visit in the town.

Travellers generally flock to Kuah to enjoy the duty-free shopping. There are several shops around the Kuah Town Center that offer duty free shopping including the Jetty Point Duty Free Complex. Haji Ismail Group, Lagkawi Fair Shopping Mall, Al Ikhsan and Saga Shopping Center also offer duty free shopping.

 

Nearby Airports

The Langkawi International Airport is the nearest airport to Kuah Town. The airport is located in Padang Matsirat towards the north-western part of the island about 25 minutes from Kuah Town.

There are no public transportation options available from the airport. The best choice is to hire taxis or car rentals. A one way trip from the airport to Kuah by taxi costs around RM 24.
