Description

The coastal city of Cancun is a world-renowned holiday destination amongst tourists who flock to the city to enjoy a relaxing vacation or holiday. The city is located in an area known as the Mexican Caribbean - which is also a famous resort area - better known as Quintana Roo, on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Cancun lies towards the northeast of the Mexican Caribbean and was built after the government identified the area as an ideal spot for tourism. The city is busiest during the months from December to April, which are the peak times for visiting and accommodation and airfare prices increase dramatically during those few months.

The city features a tropical climate with the warmest months being during the period from May to September. Numerous attractions are offered to travelers ranging from stretches of pristine beaches to Mayan archaeological sites to lush jungles, with something on offer for every type of traveler. Scuba diving and water sports are also popular activities on the island, giving adventurous travelers a number of activities to choose from.

The main attractions in Cancun include the Interactive Aquarium, Nichupte Lagoon, Isla Mujeres, Pirate Show Cancun Jolly Roger and Museo Maya de Cancun, in addition to its beautiful white sand beach stretches. Since Cancun is a popular tourist destination, a wealth of accommodation options and tourist facilities will be readily available.

Nearby Airports

The main airport serving the city of Cancun is the Cancun International Airport. It is the second busiest airport in Mexico, just behind the Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City, and is located about 10 kilometers away from the hotel strip. The airport has three terminals and serves many airlines and millions of passengers every year. It is currently considered to be one of the most important airports in Mexico.

Halal Restaurants

Very limited Halal food options and Halal restaurants in Cancun are available for Muslim travelers. Travelers may need to opt for vegetarian cuisine or seafood, which will be readily available. However Muslim travelers may need to note that certain vegetarian dishes may use animal fat during preparation and it may best to inquire with restaurant owners about the preparation of food. Guests staying over at accommodations that offer a private kitchen may visit the market place and purchase items such as grains, vegetables and fish and prepare their own meals, which is probably the safest option.
