10 Must Do’s Before Traveling
If you are planning to travel to another country and you haven’t traveled much, it might seem scary and overwhelming. But knowing what to do and prepping beforehand is essential for a stress free trip. Whether you are traveling for a week or a month, there are some things you need to organize and take care of prior to leaving on your holiday.

Passport and entry requirements

If you don’t already have a passport you need to start the process of obtaining one well in advance of your trip, as expediting it will cost extra, and this extra charge is just completely unnecessary as it can been avoided. However if you already have a passport then you need to make sure that the passport does not expire during your travels. You will also need to check on the country’s entry requirements, as each country will have their own set of rules. The number of pages required for stamping will differ from country to country, so it is essential to make sure you have enough pages in your passport.

Research safety concerns

Before traveling to any part of the world it is essential to do some research on how safe the chosen destination is. It is wise to check up on safety concerns and travel warnings on a country before you get there. Knowing areas to avoid and being aware of the common scams in the area might help travelers stay safe.

Read about and research your destination

Once you have decided on where to go, the next step would be to read about your chosen destination. Where to stay, what to see, what and where to eat are all questions that can be answered by researching the country. For Muslim travelers this is an important part of the whole planning process as there are certain requirements that need to be met. Finding Muslim-friendly facilities in the destination of choice is of utmost importance for the holiday to be a great experience. All this planning must be done prior to leaving on your holiday.

Sorting out accommodation

Travelers are always advised to find and book accommodation prior to leaving on holiday. Even if you are planning on traveling to other areas in the country, the initial hotel should be centrally located and easily accessible. Muslim travelers will want to find a hotel that is Muslim-friendly or one that is willing to take into concern the religious requirements of the guest. Finding a hotel with halal restaurants or restaurants serving halal food, may not be easy, bit in the end will prove to be extremely convenient for the Muslim traveler.

Transport

You will have to find out the best way to get to your destination from the airport and make arrangements if possible, and once there you will also have to figure out how you will get around the city to visit the various sites and attractions on your itinerary.

Figuring out the money

Before traveling to another country you will have to find out what currency is accepted there, the availability of banks, ATM machines and if credit cards are accepted. You will also have to inform you bank of you impending travel plans so that you will be cleared to use your credit cards if necessary.

Make a packing list

Make a list of the things you need to pack so that you don’t forget something important. Have the list close to you so that you can add things to it as and when you remember. This would make packing so much easier and faster. Never take more than what is needed. If you’re visiting several cities, remember that you will have to pack up after a couple of days and take all your belongings with you to the next destination!

Get a guide book and a phrase book

A guide book will definitely be very useful and handy when traveling. It makes the attraction so much more interesting with the facts and historical information it provides. A phrase book too will prove to be useful if you are traveling to a country that speaks a different language to yours.

Scan and make copies of your passport and other important paperwork

This is a precaution that should be taken in case you lose your passport or if your credit cards get stolen. It is important to have a copy or printout of them. It is always recommended to make and carry copies of your passport, ticket, hotel confirmation details and other important documents and also to leave a set of copies with your family back at home.

Plan the first day of your trip

By doing this, you will not lose time which is very precious when you are traveling. Your first day is usually lost if these plans are not made; as you are still in the process of familiarizing yourself to your surroundings. By planning ahead you could do maximum on your first confusing day in a new and unfamiliar country.
