Afghanistan began 2021 with around 2.9 million of its population displaced due to conflict within the country and almost 2.6 million registered abroad as refugees. The crisis has only got on to get worse resulting in even more displacement of civilians.
As of 1 December 2021, 3.4 Million people have been estimated to be internally displaced by the conflict within Afghanistan.
More than half of the population in Afghanistan is currently dependent on humanitarian assistance, with them often living in makeshift settlements, the onset of the harsh winter season looks to be quite a tough and unpleasant situation to go through for these displaced individuals.
UNHCR along with other NGOs has been continuously providing emergency assistance across Afghanistan. Providing the means of winterization, a place to stay, some monetary assistance, and more, UNHCR and its partners are slowly trying to get the Internally Displaced Individuals back on their feet. And YOU can help too!
