The Sydney Opera House is a world-renown symbol and icon of Australia. Considered to be one of the best-built structures in the entire world, the Sydney Opera House is located in the city centre of Sydney, at Bennelong Point. The impressive structure was completed in 1973, following 14 years of construction, and is host to over 1,500 events and performances around the year. It is amongst the most popular tourist attractions in Australia and it offers a number of facilities to visitors including several eateries, restaurants and retail outlets. It has been declared one of the world's most distinctive buildings of the 20th century and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2007.
