 Puerto Princesa is a city on the island of Palawan and it is the second largest city in the Philippines in terms of geographical area; it is also the area with the least population density. In addition to being very sparsely populated, it is widely considered the centre of eco-tourism in the Philippines, being the cleanest as well as most environmentally-friendly city.

 

Puerto Princesa is yet another popular tourist destination in the country as it is gifted with white sand beaches, a plethora of resorts and restaurants as well as many other luxury places of interest. Its ease of access by air, sea or land has greatly contributed to its appeal as a tourist hotspot. The annual gathering of numerous tourists, both local and foreign, has greatly improved the city’s economy.

The main airport of Puerto Princesa is the Puerto Princesa International Airport located in the Palawan province, around 2 kilometres away from the city centre. It deals with domestic flights mainly coming in and out of the cities of Busuanga, Manila and Cebu. The Puerto Princesa International Airport is also the gateway to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River area - a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is one of the longest underground rivers in the world.
