About the Event
 

Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations will be taking place from 13th to the 18th December 2016 at EKO Atlantic City. Those visiting the event will get to see eight teams compete against each other in fierce competition where the winner is ultimately declared the best beach soccer nation in Africa. The two finalists of the tournament will also get to participate in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2017 that will be held in the Bahamas, as the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations is also a qualifying tournament. 

 

The first four editions of Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations was held in Durban, South Africa with the following two editions being held in Casablanca and El Jadida in Morocco and the next one in Roche Caiman in Seychelles. This is the first time Nigeria will be hosting the African Beach Soccer Cup of Nations.  

 

The 8 Participating Nations
 

Traveling to Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations is a great experience for soccer fans – where some skilled players with plenty of talent on the field can be seen.  The eight countries that are participating this year are:

- Madagascar

A Brief History of Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations

 

The championship was first established in 2006 and has been taking place every two years - like the Beach Soccer World Cup. Currently Senegal is the most successful team by being three-time champions - and this year’s host, Nigeria have also been two-time champions. Madagascar and Senegal were last year’s finalists who qualified to play for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015 that was held in Portugal - where Madagascar became the champions. Traveling to Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations is where you will get a chance to see some of the best beach soccer teams in Africa play.

Halal Food: Finding Halal food in Lagos will not be that hard since Nigeria has one the highest Muslim populations in West Africa. While there might not be  Halal food at EKO Atlantic, there are small number of Halal restaurants in Lagos close to the venue– such as  Sherlaton Indian Restaurant which is about 2km away and  Viceroy Restaurant about 3km.

 

Halal Restaurants: The Lagoon Restaurant is also 4km from the venue with the Veggie Victory being 5 km away. Muslims visiting 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations can also ask restaurant staff if Halal food is being served at the restaurant. If not, you can select vegetarian or seafood options that are available to be safe. 

 

Mosques: While there are no specific prayer facilities at EKO Atlantic, there are a few mosques in Lagos that are close to the venue such as the Lekki Central Mosque that is 12 km away and the Syrian Mosque located at least 7km away.  Muslim travelers traveling to 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations can also get more information about Halal food in Lagos and Halal restaurants in Lagos from the local Muslims as and the local mosques
