New Zealand recently announced that its COVID-19 Protection Framework has been retired. This includes the travel restrictions, which include testing and vaccinations that were in place previously for travelers going into the country. A positive turn of events for those looking to travel to New Zealand.
"The most recent health advice now tells us that with the lowest cases and hospitalizations since February, our population well vaccinated, and expanded access to anti-viral medicines, New Zealand is in a position to move forward..." said Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in a recent news conference.
From 13 September 2022 (Tuesday), all vaccination requirements have been removed for incoming travelers and aircrew with the requirements to test on day 0/1 and 5/6 being deemed only as encouraged.
The only requirement remaining is that those who test positive for COVID-19 have to serve the 7-day isolation period.
Other than the changes seen in the latest announcement, all mask-wearing requirements, other than in healthcare and aged care facilities have also been removed in New Zealand.
