LATEST: Taufik Batisah's New Fried Chicken Store Has Joined The Hipster Squad

Chix Hot Chicken is no ordinary fried chicken shop in Singapore. Opened recently in June, it has since welcomed an increasing number of visitors who simply want to find out what’s on its Halal menu, what’s so special about its fried chicken and to sass out the popular names associated behind this blue corner shop in Haji Lane area. If you are planning a visit (and you should!), the shop is located on Jalan Pisang where The Lab SG used to be.

Taufik Batisah (winner of the first Singapore Idol) and Ismail Rawi Bober are the co-owners of this Halal food joint. The two began friendship more than a decade ago as gym buddies – a friendship which then flourished through many of similar interests, including a dream of opening a business together.

From South America to Singapore

According to co-owner Ismail Rawi Bober who’s passionate about cooking, he was intrigued by Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown several years ago. When he took a family trip to Louisiana in 2013, he was fascinated by the southern hospitality and the food experience – especially the Nashville Hot Chicken. This is when and where the idea of Chix Hot Chicken originated from. 5 years later, we are glad to see the business is executed well and ready for its customers in Singapore.

At Chix Hot Chicken, the distinguishing factors are the use of organic pepper powders and spices to bring a different kind of heat and flavour to customers in Singapore. This makes the hot chicken agonizingly delicious. You'll be amazed with this whole new side of fried chicken when you dine at Chix Hot Chicken.

We like that fresh chickens are delivered daily and no preservatives or chemicals being used in the secret rub and marination.

As for the Original Fried Chicken (not spicy), it is made with Soul Spice mix inspired from New Orleans.

Sauce Using World Spiciest Pepper

The main reason to visit Chix Hot Chicken is to try their homemade sauces using the hottest peppers in the world as ranked by Guinness World Record called Carolina Reaper (heat measured on Scoville scale: 1,569,300 on average SHU). Also used in the sauce is Ghost Pepper (heat measured on Scoville scale:1,041,427 SHU).

You can taste different levels of heat and test your limit when you order the Nashville Hot Chicken. Challenge your tastebuds with all three levels of sauces – mild, extra or insane hotness. Not too worry, order the Chix Milkshake as well. The vanilla flavour will surely go really well to cool down the heat.

Freshly Fried Chicken

Not only the chicken is freshly fried upon the order of your choice, it ensures the juiciness and tenderness of the chicken. From the menu, choose from the Original (come with fries) or Nashville Hot (come with a slice of white bread and pickles) and then pick the size you fancy - Quarter (choice of thigh & leg or breast & wing), Half (thigh & leg + breast & wing), or Wings (3 whole wings).

If you like burger style, pick the Soul Slider made of boneless chicken, slaw pickles, and pink mayonnaise with 2 buttered buns. If you’re on a diet and not keen on protein intake (we don’t blame you), grab the side dish of baked bean, creamy tangy slaw and some fries.

Sunday Waffle

If the above is not enough to entice your appetite for a kick-ass finger-licking fried chicken, come on Sunday for their waffle as a weekend treat. Dine with choice of Quarter or Wing fried chicken plus the waffle - comes handy with honey butter.

Funky Ambience

Feel the love and passion when you dine in the shop to enjoy the freshly fried hot chicken off the fryer while you marvel at the art work by talented artist Timothy Stewart Shaw. Expect cool beat of the music in the air to make your dining experience a satisfying one.

Why wait? Come down to Chix Hot Chicken now. The Halal hot spicy fried chicken will surely challenge your tastebuds.
