Prayer Facilities

Heathrow has multi-faith prayer rooms located in each of its five terminals. All of them cater to the needs of both male and female worshippers. The airportƒ??s chapel, situated centrally between Terminals 1,2 and 3, includes a multi-faith prayer room (open 07:30 - 20:00). One can reach the chapel by using stairs opposite the entrance to the Terminal 2 short stay car park. The multi-faith prayer room is located at street level, above the main terminal building. Jumuah Prayers are performed here at 13:00 on Fridays.

Multi-faith prayer rooms are also available at the following locations: Terminal 1: A prayer room is located in the departure lounge, near Gates 14. Terminal 2: A prayer room is located in the departure lounge, near Gates 18 and 19. Terminal 3: There are 2 prayer rooms, on the first floor in the arrivals area and after security control in the departures lounge. Terminal 4: There is a prayer room in the departures area, between Gate 1 and security control. Terminal 5: Multi-faith prayer rooms are also provided in Terminal 5, both before and after security. They are situated in the check-in area before security control, in the departures area near Gate 7, and in Terminal 5b.

However doing wudu is a challenge since it does not have proper facilities to wash your feet. The good news is there are "wudu stones" inside some prayer rooms so that you could do Tayammum (dry ablution). In addition, there is a mosque in Hounslow the journey from the airport can take around 15-20 minutes by taxi.

Halal Food

Surprisingly, given the number of Muslims living in and traveling through London, there are very few Halal dining options for Muslim travelers at Heathrow Airport. DDƒ??s Sandwiches are a well known supplier of kosher prepackaged sandwiches and the meats used are all halal. These are available in the Bite Caf?? in Terminal 3 Arrivals, as well as in the AMT Coffee Shops in Terminal 3 Arrivals, Terminal 4 Departures and Terminal 1 Departures. These come with a prominent 'Halal certified' logo.

Just a few minutes away from the airport in Hounslow West, the KFC serves halal chicken, as does the Nandos in West London (Hounslow). Sethƒ??s Spice Hut in Harlington (207-209 High Street) is certified halal, as are a number of other restaurants in the near vicinity including Khan Chachaƒ??s Pakistani restaurant (348 Bath Road Hounslow) and Mehak Asian Restaurant (104 Hanworth Road). Aside from these few restaurants very close to the airport, London has an enormous range of halal eating options.
