Description

Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve or the Algarve Live Science Center, situated in the old Algarve Power Station, is one of the best places in Faro to take kids. The Science Center is home to a variety of fun yet educational things to do and see, for kids and adults alike. The Permanent Exhibition area at the indoor family attraction features numerous interactive modules focusing on ‘The Sea’ and its biodiversity. The Science Center also has three aquariums, including an interactive one that allows visitors to observe and touch a variety of sea creatures. Outside, there is a garden with the theme of renewable energy, and a greenhouse which houses a hanging garden, and allows visitors to see aromatic and medicinal plants growing. Meanwhile, the roof terrace at the Science Center also offers a variety of hands-on activities; such as those relating to astronomy, and a wonderful view of the Ria Formosa.

Prayer Facilities

Finding prayer facilities at the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve will not be possible. Muslim tourists will therefore have to make use of the facilities offered at the only known mosque in the city, the Mesquita de Faro which is located in Bom João. Muslim tourists can therefore ask staff at the Science Center to direct them to this mosque when needed.

Halal Food

It is unclear if the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve has a food outlet. Visitors will however be able to find cafés and restaurants in the area surrounding the attraction. While Muslim visitors will find it quite difficult to locate Halal restaurants in Faro, there are a couple of Halal dining establishments in the city. Two known Halal restaurants in Faro are, Garrett Snack Bar and Horus Snack Bar.
