The Hikkaduwa Lake is a pleasant spot to drop by when sight-seeing in Hikkaduwa. Located along the Baddegama Road, the scenic fresh-water lake is about five kilometres away from the Hikkaduwa city centre and offers a fascinating way to observe the wildlife of the area. Flocks of exotic birds visit the lake frequently, providing plenty of photography opportunities. If lucky, travellers will also be able to spot a few monitor lizards and monkeys that reside around the area. Prawn fishing is another traditional activity that takes place at the lake and travellers may take a canoe ride during sunset, for an unforgettable experience.

Plenty of private area will be available around the Hikkaduwa Lake to make use of during prayer times. Muslim travellers may also visit some of the mosques in Gintota – which is located about 12 kilometres away – such as the Avalmale Mosque, Welipitimodara Mosque and Meeram Mosque.
There are a few Halal restaurants in the area for Muslim travellers who require Halal food in Hikkaduwa. Most of the Halal restaurants in Hikkaduwa can be found along the Hikkaduwa - Galle Road. It is also possible to visit some of the more prominent and expensive restaurants at well-known hotels in the area such as the Chaaya Tranz Hikkaduwa which are capable of arranging Halal meals upon prior notice.
