Located close to Abha is the small mountain village of Al Habala; a once inhabited village that is now a popular tourist attraction. This ancient village; located in Al Habala Valley, was once only accessible by rope and is known to have been inhabited by villagers who fled the Ottomans. The old village of Al Habala is also known as the Hanging Village, as it was built on the side of a very steep cliff face. Visiting this village gives tourists a unique view into Saudi’s past; even though it has now been developed. Tourists will have to take a cable car to get to the abandoned village. This experience is truly spectacular as visitors are treated to breathtaking views of the mountains and the surrounding desert landscape. This now tourist area is also becoming a popular spot for paragliders because of its stunning surroundings.

Muslim tourists will be able to locate prayer facilities in Al Habala resort. They will also be able to pray outdoors while touring the old village of Al Habala, as there is plenty of open space. Visitors will also be able to find mosques in the areas surrounding Al Habala.

Muslims visiting any part of Saudi Arabia do not have to worry about locating Halal food; as all the restaurants in the Kingdom serve Halal food. Finding Halal food in Al Habala will also not prove to be a problem. Tourists will be able to find coffee shops and restaurants in Al Habala resort. They may also come across vendors selling traditional coffee and dates while tourists the old village of Al Habala.
