A visit to Les Abattoirs offers tourists quite a unique experience. This Museum devoted to modern and contemporary arts is located in what once used to be a slaughterhouse. Located along the Garonne River, in Toulouse, the slaughterhouse was renovated and restored to house over 2300 works of art. Visitors to the unique museum will come across some stunning paintings, photographs, sculptures and other forms of modern art. Visitors will also find a media library, a bookstore that specializes in modern and contemporary art, a coffee shop, an auditorium and creative workshops while here. There are guided tours that visitors can take to make full use of their time spent at the museum.

Opening Hour

The museum is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 7 pm.

While Muslim tourists will not be able to find a prayer room at the museum, the city of Toulouse is home to quite a few mosques, such as Grande Mosquée de Toulouse, at which they can offer their prayers. Tourists can therefore ask the locals for directions to the closest mosque to Les Abattoirs Museum, if needed.   

Halal Food

Les Abattoirs Museum does have a coffee shop, but Muslim tourists will not be able to find Halal food here. Muslims visiting the museum can however dine on the seafood and vegetarian options available at the coffee shop. If they are looking for Halal food in particular, tourists will be able to find a number of Halal restaurants in the city of Toulouse.
