A visit to Munich is not complete without a visit to the bustling Viktualienmarkt; a fresh produce outdoor farmers market. Dating back to the early 19th century, this popular market is now home to over 140 stalls selling a fantastic variety of fresh local good and exotic ingredients. Visitors to the Viktualienmarkt will be able to find items ranging from meats, eggs and cheese to pastries, honey, spices, tea and herbs, vegetables, flowers and plants, and so much more. Located seconds away from the Marienplatz; Munich’s central square, the lively market is frequented by the city’s locals and has become a social and cultural hub.

Since Munich is home to quite a number of Muslims, the city also consists of a couple of mosques. These mosques are located all over the city, like in Sendling and Ludwigsvorstadt. While at the Viktualienmarkt, Muslim tourists requiring prayer facilities could ask to be directed to the nearest prayer facility when needed.
Although there are numerous fantastic restaurants surrounding the Viktualienmarkt, these restaurants may not be Halal. Muslim tourists will however be able to locate several Halal restaurants in the city of Munich. While at the Viktualienmarkt, visitors must make it a point to sample some of the fresh produce on sale.
