Those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of New York City must make it a point to visit the Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, located in the borough of Queens. Known to be the largest park in Queens the Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, more often referred to as the Flushing Meadows Park, has something for everyone. The site of two twentieth century World's Fairs, the Flushing Meadows Park has been visited by millions. It is home to the New York Hall of Science, the Queens Theatre in the Park, the New York State Pavilion, the Queens Zoo, Citi Field, the Queens Museum of Art and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, amongst other attractions. The park also houses the Unisphere; a giant steel globe created for the World’s Fair in 1964, and a symbol of Queens. Visitors to Flushing Meadows Park will also come across a skate park, a boating lake, playgrounds, a barbecue area, and several other recreational areas.

Prayer Facilities

Like most other attractions in New York, the Flushing Meadows–Corona Park does not offer prayer facilities for Muslim visitors. But because the park is so large, Muslims will be able to find plenty of clean and quiet areas outdoors to offer their prayers. Muslim tourists could also make use of the facilities offered at one of the several mosques and Islamic Centers in Queens, such as the Muslim Center of New York, Masjid Al-Fallah, the Islamic Guidance Center of Queens and the Elmhurst Muslim Center.

Halal Food

There are numerous cafés and food carts located throughout the Flushing Meadows–Corona Park. Visitors will therefore be able to fine a selection of food items to suit all tastes and budget. Muslim visitors could dine on suitable vegetarian and seafood dishes from these eateries, or they could visit one of the many Halal restaurants in Queens. The borough of Queens is in fact known to be one of the best areas in New York to find Halal food.
