Description

The Gold Coast is a coastal city in southeastern Queensland and is located on the east coast of Australia. It is the sixth largest city in Australia and is well known for its natural attractions including its never ending, beautiful beaches. The Gold Coast may not be known for its predominant Muslim population but it does have a long history with Middle Easterners and therefore it is quite easy for Muslim travelers to find Halal facilities.

The city is globally renowned for its coastline which consists of some of the most popular surf breaks in the world including The Spit, Main Beach, Surfers Paradise and so much more. It is also known for its mild winters and warm, humid summers that make it perfect for outdoor activities and exploration quests. Gold Coast is the most popular tourist destination in Queensland and is hence well equipped with numerous hostels, motels, resorts and hotels. In addition to that, it is the home to several theme parks, water parks, rainforests, national parks, beaches and exotic wildlife. Tourists favor the coastal attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef. Fraser Island is another tourist favorite located not far from Gold Coast city. It is listed as a World Heritage site and is the world’s largest sand island. Fraser Island is home to the historic Maheno shipwreck as well as kangaroos, wallabies and possums.

There are several tours that Muslim tourists can take to learn more about the rich history behind Gold Coast and Fraser Island and all the other attractions the city boasts.

Gold Coast is a shopper’s paradise. There is a significant amount of shopping malls and shops around the beaches and the coastline including Robina Town Shopping Centre and Pacific Fair, which is one of the major shopping malls on the Gold Coast.

Nearby Airports

Almost all major airlines fly to the Gold Coast airport. However, the ones that do not, mostly fly to Brisbane Airport, which is less than one hour away from the centre of Gold Coast. Both airports are easy to reach and can be accessed by public transport.
